Is it that time to look for a new car? Whether your old one died on you, or you’re just looking for something new to keep up with the great technology, there are several options out there. Although, there are also a few steps you should consider when searching for a new car. Buying a new car can be a very expensive task, so we want to make sure we get the most for our money. Listed below are some tips and advice you may want to consider when purchasing your next vehicle.
.) How much? – First of all, what is your budget? Set a goal price you want to get away with spending, and a max that you’re not willing to spend over.
.) What kind of car? – Do you have an idea of what kind of car you want? Look online at a few of your favorite auto manufacturers and see which vehicles you like best to get an idea.
.) What am I looking for? – What are you looking for in your vehicle? Does it have to have the latest technology, or could you care less? What things are a must for your next car?
.) Any specials? – Once you have an idea what kind of car you want, and what you want included with your car look around for specials and/or discounts. There are several dealerships out there that must compete, see who has the best deals for what you want.
.) Looking around – If you’ve found some good dealerships go up there and see what they have to offer. Ask the salesman what specials they have going on, and tell him what you’re looking for.
.) Look at a few – Once you find a vehicle you like, look at a couple of them. See which ones are the best deal for the price. Compare them all by color, mileage, year, features, etc.
.) Test drive - Once you find a car you like out of the few, test drive it. When you drive it you should feel comfortable and feel like “this is what I want”, if you don’t get that feeling, keep looking. Or, test drive the other ones you were looking at.
.) Search – Once you find the vehicle that feels comfortable to you, search it. Look for any scrapes, scratches, stains, or any wear and tear in the vehicle. If you see any, be sure to point it out to the salesman (that way you can maybe lower the price.) Also, make sure everything works in the car!
.) Negotiate – When you find the car that you’re truly happy with, try and negotiate the price. Never settle for the going price. At least knock off a few hundred or ask for something you may want like new wiper blades, tires, etc.
.) Paperwork - Once you’ve settled on a price, be sure to carefully look over the paperwork. Make sure you know how much your monthly payment will be, the total cost with tax, and make sure you’re not signing anything you don’t agree to.
Buying a new car can be pretty stressful, although if you take it step by step, make sure you do your research, and you get it for the right price, it’s not that bad. Just don’t rush, or settle for anything less than what you want!
