Car insurance can be expensive, depending on who you go through, but there are some facts that you should separate from the myths. The next time you go car insurance hunting, keep some of these myths in mind.
Newer cars are always stolen: If you think most of the newer cars are stolen, this couldn’t be further from the truth. In fact, if you take a look at the most stolen cars list, you’ll find that many of them are older.
The color determines price: I’ve once heard someone tell me that the color of your car will make your car insurance rise. If you talk with any insurance agent, you car color will never become a factor.
I’m always covered: When someone gets insurance, they assume that they are covered on everything, including theft, and everything else. Depending on your policy, you’re going to find that you’re not covered on some things. This is why it’s important that you look over your policy closely.
I’ll get a rental car: Some people assume that if they are in an accident, they will be able to get a rental car if their car is stolen, or in an accident. If you didn’t add this to your policy, you most likely will have to pay for your own car.
My car loan will be paid off: Let’s say you get in a wreck, and your car is total. The car insurance companies aren’t going to give you cash for what you paid for it. Instead, you’re going to find that you’re going to get what it was worth at the time of the accident, and it may be a shocker to you.
Like anything, you’ll find that there are a lot of myths out there. It’s your duty to read, and find out what’s right. You’ll find that everything you read isn’t always true!
