Car accidents happen all the time, and this is exactly why they are called an “accident”. Most of the time, it didn’t happen on purpose. Take pictures yourself: The more evidence you have, the better it will be for you. Make sure that you take pictures with your phone, and draw up a sketch. You’ll want to know where it took place, and with whom. If you have a witness, have them give you a phone number. Everything will help you here.
Get information: Don’t let the person that hit you get away. You’re going to want to get a name, address, driver’s license number, license plate number, as well as insurance information. The more info you can get, the better it’s going to be for you.
